Other common rumors about cheap ink cartridges were that the print quality wasn't as good, they didn't last as long as more expensive products, and they often caused damage to printers. In short, people assumed that paying more guaranteed they were getting a superior product, and vice versa.

Slowly but surely, the truth about cheap ink cartridges began to emerge. People decided to try them out, and they discovered that they were identical in almost every way to OEM cartridges. Cheap ink cartridges produced printouts of equal quality, lasted just as long, were just as easy to use, and did not, as many people believed, cause printers to mysteriously stop working.
